IAB report on 'User Generated Content'
The Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) have released a very timely and interesting report on all things user generated. It's titled "The buzz on user generated content and social media" and is available from their website.
The report is a great 'where are we now' look at user generated content or 'consumer generated content' in relation to marketing campaigns and digital advertising. It also gives some good practical advice on customer engagement using the many social media tools available.
There is even a reference to moderation in one of their golden rules:
"Try to 'let your brand go' online whilst at the same time managing and monitoring the process carefully so that consumers don't undermine it."
This is one of the crucial elements for marketers embracing user generated content, the balance of letting go whilst retaining some control. And something that eModeration works hard to achieve by working hand in hand with our clients.
