Update 22/09/2006
ICP Europe released their shares in eModeration December 2004

ICP Europe Publishing PLC (ICP) has become one of a continually growing number of companies to recognize that successful online communities require intelligent human moderation. Gone are the days of the “if you build it, they will come” mentality, a vibrant community on any technical platform requires nurturing, input and the occasional ban of troublesome or dangerous users. eModeration Limited, a 24-hour community moderation company has joined the ICP group to add to their growing portfolio of services.

eModeration provides twenty-four hour community management and moderation to clients in the entertainment and digital publishing industry and blue chip clients hosting online communities.

All interactive community elements that allow the general public to post free text or pictures are a potential risk to the company or content provider. This risk includes defamatory or libellous material, obscenity and abusive or intimidating comments.

Unmoderated community areas can also pose a threat to children by allowing online enticement (children being approached and groomed by paedophiles on the internet) and eModeration provides a safe, moderated space when working with child-centric communities.

Tamara Littleton, CEO of eModeration comments: “With chat room danger and community moderation so high on the political and media agenda this is an excellent time for eModeration to be raising its profile by joining forces with ICP, a company recognized for its technical and editorial values.”

Tamara Littleton has an established background in editorial quality control, fault escalation and process management. She managed the Online Operations team for BBC Online where she was instrumental in the team gaining the world’s first ISO 9000 for digital publishing management as well as monitoring over 400 BBC websites.

eModeration draws on the expertise of global moderators covering different time zones and with specialist editorial and community moderation skills. All moderators are managed online from eModeration's headquarters based in the ICP offices in London.

Ian Jindal, CEO of ICP comments: “Our clients are demanding that their online services are actively and professionally moderated. With the web now forming an important, established channel, clients want the online interactions to be of the same high standard as their call centres, customer support and face-to-face contact. This requires a unique set of skills, processes and aptitudes to deliver for our brand-conscious, quality-oriented clients. eModeration is able to meet our clients’ needs and we are pleased to welcome eModeration into the ICP Group.”
